Clark County is inviting residents, local business owners, and sidewalk vendors to participate in online surveys aimed at obtaining their opinions and feedback to shape the new ordinances for the sidewalk vending law.

Senate Bill 92 from the 2023 legislative session created various requirements for the licensing and regulation of sidewalk vendors moving forward. The bill set forth certain requirements of sidewalk vendors but did allow local governments to establish additional licensing and operation requirements. Over the next months, Clark County will be soliciting feedback from the community on how SB92 should be implemented in unincorporated Clark County as required by state law.

By participating in the surveys, residents, local business owners, and sidewalk vendors can ensure that their voices are heard and their perspectives are considered in the formulation of the new ordinances.

Clark County will need to move forward two ordinances, and this will be done in two phases:

 

• Phase 1

Clark County will be introducing the first ordinance on September 19 that will prohibit street food vending within 1500 feet of a resort hotel, an event facility with capacity of over 20,000 seats for a minor or major league team, the convention center and in a median or highway, if adjacent to a parking lot – for example, the Welcome Las Vegas Sign.

After the introduction, the Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on October 3 and vote to approve the ordinance. The ordinance will be effective two weeks after its passage on October 17.

 

• Phase 2

The second ordinance will establish additional rules to address licensing fees and designate zones in neighborhoods and commercial areas where sidewalk vending can occur. The second ordinance will be introduced as early as January 2024. However, we must have an ordinance in place no later than July 1, 2024.

Please join us at any of our town halls to provide your feedback on how sidewalk vendors should be regulated in unincorporated Clark County. The town halls will offer interpretation services in Spanish, English & Tagalog. The town hall will be broadcasted on all Clark County Social Media Channels in English and Spanish including Facebook, Twitter (X), and YouTube.
