After years of hard work by the 1 October Memorial Committee to engage the community and select a winning concept for the permanent 1 October Memorial, on April 2, 2024, the Clark County Commission unanimously voted to designate the Vegas Strong Fund, a Nevada-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, as the entity responsible for fundraising, design, and construction of the Forever One Memorial. It is our honor to be trusted with this sacred community effort.
Following, on July 16, 2024, the Commission unanimously voted to approve a generous $1 million startup grant to kick start the nonprofit’s efforts to achieve this important community objective.
On Sept. 30, 2024, we launched our website ForeverOneMemorial.org, and the three-year campaign to fundraise and build the memorial. Please follow our website and social media channels for ongoing updates and to learn about how you can support.
Thank you to all who have joined us in our journey to help create a lasting 1 October memorial. Following an extensive effort to gather input from the public and professional design teams, we recommended a concept to the County Commission presented by JCJ Architecture to serve as our community’s memorial project.
The Clark County Commission appointed the 1 October Memorial Committee to gather input from the public and develop recommendations for a permanent memorial to remember those who perished in the events of 1 October 2017, to honor the many heroes who inspired the nation with their bravery and all those whose lives were changed forever, and to celebrate resiliency and compassion of our community.
