The U.S. Department of Interior today announced over $75 million in funding for three Clark County recreation facilities and an additional $3.5 million to help fund the Multi-Species Habitat Conservation Plan.

James Regional Park Sports Complex received $39,771,004 to design and construct the new James Regional Park Softball Complex with eight softball fields, one of which will be a championship-style field.

“I am thrilled that the Department of Interior saw the tremendous community benefit of the new James Regional Park Softball Complex and provided the funding to support this important recreational development,” said Commissioner Michael Naft. “In building this new complex, we are supporting our underserved softball community by not only providing a new space for our local leagues to play but also creating a wonderful location to host local, regional, and national tournaments.”

Hollywood Regional Park received $28,289,900 to design and construct a new multi-use field consisting of four fields to enhance existing park and recreation at the facility and these new fields will connect directly to paved paths and trails within the park, including the SNPLMA-awarded 1.25 Hollywood Regional Park Walking Trail.

“Our new Hollywood Regional Park Multi-Use Fields will be a great benefit to the northeast area of our community where many of our underserved neighborhoods are located,” said Commissioner Tick Segerblom. “These SNPLMA funds will help to contribute to the quality of life for East Las Vegas children and families while also providing a great place to enjoy the outdoors.”

The Clark County Shooting Complex received $7,435,471 for improvements to its outdoor archery competition range and the Helice Field Shotgun Range and International Olympic Trap and Skeet Field. The improvements will allow the complex to offer more comprehensive archery hunter education and training programs and will enhance the facility’s ability to provide the public with a safe setting for recreational shooting.

“We are excited to receive SNPLMA funding to add some great enhancements to the Clark County Shooting Complex,” said Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick. “This facility provides the public with a safe place for sports enthusiasts of all ages to practice and compete in recreational shooting and archery tournaments, leagues and classes.”

The $3.5 million for habitat conservation efforts will help fund projects for Muddy River restoration, desert tortoise monitoring and vegetation mapping efforts in the County.

Since its enactment SNPLMA has generated more than $4 billion through 19 rounds, funding projects that are not just beneficial to Clark County and the State of Nevada, but also California through the Lake Tahoe Basin as well as partner states in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
