As part of a Clark County project to relocate underground the power lines along Maryland Parkway between Tropicana Avenue and Flamingo Road, construction crews will perform work at the intersection of Maryland Parkway and Tropicana Avenue. Please be advised of the following road closure and traffic impacts:

May 19 at 6 a.m. - May 21 at 6 a.m.

  • Southbound Maryland will be reduced to two lanes at Tropicana Ave.
    • One dedicated right turn lane
    • One lane for thru traffic/left turns
  • Tropicana Ave will be reduced to two lanes in each direction.

The recommended detour around the work area is Eastern Avenue or University Center Drive.

Drivers should expect delays in the area, especially as increased traffic is expected for commencement ceremonies at the Thomas & Mack on the following days and times:

  • CSN commencement: May 19; 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • CCSD graduation: May 20; 8:30 a.m.

The free Waze app is available for download and can assist with planning your route. Access to local businesses will be maintained, and all UNLV parking garages and lots will remain open and accessible from adjacent streets.

The $10.3 million Maryland Parkway Overhead Utility Underground project includes installing a shared utility conduit duct bank to facilitate the undergrounding of overhead utility lines on the east side of Maryland Parkway. Existing overhead utility lines to be undergrounded include NV Energy, Cox, and Lumen. Work also includes removal and reconstruction of bituminous pavement, curb & gutter, sidewalk, raised median, and pavement markings, and adjustment/relocation of existing utilities.
