How long does the process take after applying for rental/utility assistance? 
Following assignment to a caseworker, decisions are typically reached within 30 days. To expedite this process, please ensure all necessary verifications are uploaded during application submission.
What is considered a fixed income?
  • Social Security programs
  • Veteran’s Administration pension and disability
  • Pensions
  • Permanent disability programs
How many months of assistance can be received through the Eviction Prevention and Fixed Income Rental Assistance programs?
  • Eviction Prevention assistance for past due rent is a one-time per lifetime benefit for up to a maximum of twelve (12) months past due rent and three (3) months of future rent.
  • Fixed Income Rental Assistance Program applicants can receive up to 12 months of rental assistance. Additionally, a 13th month of assistance is available to aid in relocating to more affordable housing.
What are the eligibility requirements for Eviction Prevention and Fixed Income Rental Assistance Programs?
  • Eligibility for Eviction Prevention and Fixed Income Rental Assistance programs entails multiple factors. Generally, for Eviction Prevention. Applicants must demonstrate current rent arrears, present a viable plan to pay for future rent expenses and reside in Clark County.
  • For Fixed Income Rental Assistance, applicants need to show rent arrears, have a household member on a fixed income, and be a resident of Clark County.
I just received an eviction notice, what should I do now?
  • If you have received an eviction notice, please contact your local justice court or legal aid of southern Nevada for guidance on the eviction process.

  • If you need financial assistance, please visit https://chap.clarkcountynv.gov/ to apply for services.
Can I apply for Eviction Prevention or Fixed Income Rental Assistance if my eviction was already granted?
Unfortunately, if your eviction was already granted you may not be eligible. However, if you had an application pending at the time of your eviction you may qualify for relocation assistance. Additionally, there might be other programs available for you. Please reach out to our call center at 702-455-4270, option one, where our representatives can discuss alternative programs.
Where can I apply for Eviction Prevention or Fixed Income Rental Assistance?
  • To apply for services please visit https://chap.clarkcountynv.gov/
  • If you require assistance accessing the provided link, you can visit the Las Vegas Justice Court located at 200 Lewis Ave. Once there, proceed to the fourth floor, where staff from HELP of Southern Nevada will be available to assist you with the application process.
Can I apply for Fixed Income Rental Assistance Program if I’m pending SSI? 
If your SSI application has been approved but you have not yet begun receiving payments, you are eligible to apply for the Fixed Income Rental Assistance Program. If your SSI application is pending and a decision has not been made, you are not eligible to apply for the Fixed Income Rental Assistance Program at this time. However, there may be other assistance programs available through Clark County Social Services. Please contact 702-455-4270 to explore alternative options that may be suitable for your situation.
How long does it take to reset a password for the chap.clarkcountynv.gov application portal?
For individuals with an existing login, passwords can be reset immediately, from the website. However, if you encounter difficulties in resetting your password, our staff will return your call within 48 business hours to initiate the password reset process. Once initiated, the reset process will be handled by our IT unit. Please note that the time frames may vary depending on the specific issue.
Do I have to have an eviction to apply for Eviction Prevention or Fixed Income Rental Assistance Programs?
You do not have to have an eviction filed in order to apply for these programs. However, you will be required to demonstrate that you are behind on your rental expenses in order to qualify for both programs
Can I still apply for assistance even though I received assistance for COVID impacted CHAP before?
  1. Yes, you are eligible to apply for the Eviction Prevention or Fixed Income Rental Assistance Programs if you received COVID CHAP.
  2. If you have received E CHAP or Eviction Prevention you are not eligible to apply for the Eviction Prevention Program.
  3. If you have received Fixed Income CHAP in the past you are not eligible to apply for the Fixed Income Rental Assistance Program.
  4. If you have received Eviction Prevention assistance and someone in your home is receiving a fixed income, you may be eligible to apply for Fixed Income Rental Assistance by following this link https://chap.clarkcountynv.gov/
  5. Additionally, HELP of Southern Nevada, ULAN and HOPELINK may have other programs available to assist you.

How long will it take the landlord to receive payment if I get approved?
If approved, landlords can expect to receive payment within 14 business days.
Does Eviction Prevention or Fixed Income Rental Assistance assist with utilities?
Yes, both programs can assist with utilities.
If I received Fixed Income Rental Assistance for 5 months in 2021. Can I receive additional assistance from that program?
Depending on available funding an applicant, may be eligible for additional assistance through the Fixed Income Rental Assistance Program.
