Passport Acceptance

Passport Acceptance

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please be aware that passports are processed by the U.S. Department of State.  The County Clerk's Office performs in-person application review and acceptance before forwarding your documents to the U.S. Department of State for processing.

You are strongly encouraged to visit the U.S. Passports & International Travel website before making an appointment with our office. The following links provide important information that you need to know:

  • How to Apply for a Passport - Learn about the steps for how to apply for or renew your U.S. passport.
  • Applying in Person - Understanding when you must apply in person using Form DS-11 based on meeting certain conditions.
  • Renew a Passport - We receive numerous calls regarding renewals; this is a service that we do not provide at our acceptance office as they are done by the passport holder through mail only.
  • Children Under Age 16 - Every child regardless of age traveling overseas must have a valid passport. The child must be present. Both parents/guardians should appear with the child. If both parents/guardians cannot be present, refer to the section on parental consent.
  • Applicants 16- and 17-years-old - Applicants 16- and 17-years-old with their own identification can apply for a passport by themselves. However, it is recommended that at least one parent appear in person with the child to identify him/her and to show parental awareness.
  • Photo Requirements - While only one is required, we request that you bring two in case one becomes damaged. The Clark County Government Center has a photo booth for your convenience. An unacceptable photo is the most common reason passport acceptance appointments are rescheduled. Please read the photo requirements and come prepared with an acceptable photo.
  • Processing Times (How Quickly Can I Get My Passport?) - Processing times vary, and expedited service is available. Based on your travel, review the options and determine what is best for you.
  • Fees - Fee calculator and fee chart to help you better understand the costs associated with your passport needs.
    • The application fee must be paid in the form of a check, money order, or cashier's check and be made payable to "U.S. Department of State" as the Passport Agency does not accept cash or credit cards. Fee varies based on services requested.
    • Clark County's passport processing execution fee is $35 and can be paid by cash, credit card, check, money order, or cashier's check. All forms of checks must be made payable to “County Clerk" or they will not be accepted.
You must ensure that you have completed all of the necessary forms and bring the proper documentation and identification, or we may not be able to assist you. Nevada driver licenses with the notation "Not For Federal Official Use" are acceptable for passport applications as Primary ID. Nevada Driver Authorization Cards with the notation "Not Valid for Identification" are NOT acceptable for passport applications.

PLEASE NOTE: Only days and times when there are available appointments will show. Passport appointments are scheduled up to 15 days in advance. Please do not call our office if you are not seeing availability, as this means all available appointments are currently reserved. You are encouraged to check the site daily for openings. If you are unable to make your appointment, please cancel it or call us at (702) 671-0600. To book an appointment, please see below:
