CALL FOR ARTWORK FOR THE PEARSON GALLERY
This call is for the SOLO SERIES Juried Exhibition

About:

The SOLO SERIES Juried Exhibition open call provides four local, emerging, and under-recognized artists with an opportunity to present a solo exhibition at the Pearson Gallery for 8 weeks between August 2024 to April 2025. The selected artist will be installing and deinstalling their own solo exhibition, with the guidance of the gallery curator.

This call is for artists who have not yet shown their work in solo exhibitions and a chance for community engagement.

This is a paid educational opportunity for artists to learn about curatorial practices, be comfortable with public speaking, workshop facilitation, how to invoice, and promote themselves as an artist. Artists will be tasked with installing their exhibition with a curator’s guidance.

In addition, each artist is required to teach a workshop in relation to their exhibit. The workshop gives the artist a chance to engage with the community by creating an art lesson based on the themes or mediums shown in the exhibition.

Each artist will be selected by a blind jury, consisting of members who have a connection to the Historic Westside community.

If selected, the artists will be required to select one of the following exhibition date ranges below to exhibit. This will be first come, first serve so please have backup plans.
