Life in Death is an exhibition about Día de los Muertos and how people face death, either with humor or remembrance. The imagery of Día de los Muertos is vibrant and recognizable. Some artists use this visual library to remember the people important to them or tell their cultural stories. Other artists choose to go a nontraditional approach and share their memories with the audience in ways they see fit.
This exhibition was juried by Arlene Alvarez, Special Assistant to City of Las Vegas Councilwoman, Olivia Díaz. She was involved in mounting Day of the Dead altars at the Mexican Cultural Institute in D.C., and with the Las Vegas Ward 3 office and shares a lot of knowledge on the traditional holiday of Día de los Muertos.
