General Information
The Board of County Commissioners (BCC) created a County Arts fund in July, 2012 to fund public art projects. The Public Art Advisory Committee is being created to advise the county on the commissioning of projects and will be scheduled to begin meeting June, 2013.
Clark County Public Art Advisory Committee’s Responsibilities:
Working with the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Public Art Advisory Committee will review possible sites in unincorporated Clark County and on county property for art commissions. When it finds a site suitable to be recommended to the BCC for an art commission, it will evaluate the potential of the site and assign a budget to the proposed project. If the BCC accepts the proposed project, the Department of Parks and Recreation will then assemble a separate jury with representation from the neighborhood of the site and issue a call for artists. The jury will then select an artist or artists to execute the commission.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Clark County Public Arts Office and Public Art Advisory Committee is to advance arts, culture, and creativity through commissioned public arts, fostering a vibrant cultural identity in our community and beyond.
Public Art Advisory Committee’s Anticipated Products and Outcomes:
Recommendation of sites with recommended budgets for public art commissions.
