Acting Fire Chief Billy Samuels received Transfer of Command from Fire Chief John Steinbeck on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 1200 hours. Chief Billy Samuels was born and raised in Las Vegas, graduated from Valley High School in 1993, received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, Reno and a Master’s of Science in Crisis and Emergency Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Chief Samuels began his career as a firefighter with Clark County Fire in 2001, became a paramedic in 2003, transitioned to engineer in 2005, and promoted to captain in 2011, battalion chief in 2019, and deputy chief in 2020. Chief Samuels was also a member of the Clark County Honor Guard. Chief Samuels ran the Operations for the Family Assistance Center after 1 October. In 2020, Chief Samuels was appointed as the Emergency Manager for Clark County, where he was involved with LVIII, Formula 1, New Years Eve, and natural disasters within Clark County. Chief Samuels’ hobbies include skiing, hiking and anything outdoors. He is married to Amanda, and they are a blended family with five children.
