Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Lunkwitz is a lifelong resident of Las Vegas. Athletics has been a major part of his life, as he was an avid soccer player throughout the community and played at UNLV, where he ultimately received a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Biology. A career in the fire service came calling shortly after college when he joined the Clark County Fire Department Explorer Program.
Hired in 2005, Lunkwitz has served as a firefighter, paramedic, engineer, training instructor, IMT Deputy Operations Section Chief for SNHD Vaccinations, MACC Safety Officer and Security Branch Director for F1, MACC Deputy Planning Section Chief for Super Bowl, and MACC Deputy Operation Section Chief for New Year’s Eve. Fire Investigations was his most recent position with the Clark County Fire Department where he investigated the origin and cause of fires as a Peace Officer and held the position as a Nevada IAAI Board Member to include serving as President for the past two years.
Lunkwitz will now serve over the Rural Services Division, which includes the outlying areas of Clark County and is comprised of a large contingency of volunteer fire fighters with support from the fire suppression division.
Kevin married his high school sweetheart, Kristen, in 2004 and they have two amazing daughters, Alexis and Savannah, who keep them busy competing in every sport they can. Kevin is extremely proud of his wife and daughters and adores nothing more than spending time with them.
