In contempt cases, the court will assess a specific number of days and/or a fine for each missed payment. Failure to appear a contempt hearing may result in a bench warrant for your arrest.

The Family Support Division can file a lien on properties, bank accounts, retirement plans, life insurance plans, personal injury claims, insurance settlements or awards and other assets if a non-custodial parent fails to pay their child support.

The Family Support Division is required by law to report the amount of child support owed to the credit reporting agencies.

The Family Support Division can deny a non-custodial parent a new or renewed passport.

Federal law requires us to notify the Internal Revenue Services (IRS) when a case has accrued a child support debt. This means that if you have a child support debt when you file your tax return and you are eligible to receive an income tax return; your return could be sent from the IRS to the custodial parent.
